At the end of 2020 I was really struggling with the weight I gained. I knew I needed to make a shift in my lifestyle, and I also knew that I needed a full mind, body, and soul approach to weight loss if I wanted it to stick. One of the things I started doing was using affirmations for a positive body image.

While, at the time, my body wasn’t “where I wanted it to be” – using these affirmations for a positive body image helped me to appreciate where I was. If you’re familiar with the law of attraction you know how important it is to appreciate where you are, even if it’s not where you want to be.

On top of helping me to appreciate where I was – these affirmations for a positive body image also helped me to reframe how I looked at my body. While I was nearly 50 pounds overweight – I now appreciated how capable my body was. My body had supported me through the emotional ups and downs I had been experiencing. While “gaining weight” isn’t necessarily the best thing in the world, I was able to appreciate how my body held the weight (much of which came from emotional eating/avoiding my feelings).

Instead of shaming my body for “being too big” – I was able to thank my body for holding the emotions that I wasn’t mentally strong enough to feel at that time. The emotions that I ate my way through, instead of feeling my way through.
