At the start of each month I take a pause to reflect on the month prior. Finding gratitude for the small, slow moments in life has helped me to cultivate a more positive mindset as well as a much deeper appreciation for life itself. October was a great month for me! Here are the things I loved: October 2023
Signs and Syncs
If you’re new here – hi, I’m Jackie and I love a good sign from God. Walking to my car after Kundalini yoga one day (feeling particularly high on life) I noticed that the car parked across from me had a license plate that said “DEEEVINE” (divine… just how I was feeling).🥲
I made my way over to the grocery store after that practice where a bee landed on me and WOULD NOT LET GO. There were so many beautiful flowers for him to fly to but he spent a few moments with me, instead, which just felt extra sync-y.

Autumn’s Harvest
I’m a big advocate of organic gardening and the autumn harvest is one of my favorite times of the year. October had so many abundant days in the garden! Including over 30 butternut squashes harvested from the SAME PLANT (to date! there are still more growing on that vine). Nature is so cool! 😎

We also started to harvest our ginger in October. Freshly harvested ginger is SO GOOOOOOD!!

But First, Let me Take a Selfie
I honestly really loved the bathroom at the gelato shop across the street from my friend Dolores’ apartment so much. So, here’s a selfie because that bathroom was definitely one of the things I loved in October.

Manicures, Makeup + Other Feminine Things
Manicures are my kryptonite. I love a good mani! I got a manicure/pedicure in Lisbon and tbh it was the best view I’ve ever had during a pedicure. I also opted for a red mani/pedi – the first red mani/pedi I’ve had in over a decade.

I rearranged my closet area, setting up a new vanity table and I *love* the way the light hits the vanity in the morning.

And also, just, products.

Cute Little Slow Moments
I had so many slow moments in October that were aesthetically ~my vibe~.

The Little Mermaid in Delta One
When I was a child The Little Mermaid was my favorite movie! I was so excited to see it was one of the movie options for my flight home from Lisbon back to New York.

October’s Wallpapers
Each month I create wallpapers for my phone that channel the energy that I’m feeling for the month. Prior to the start of the month… October, to me, felt romantic and abundant while also being cozy and warm. That ended up being very true for my experience of October!

You can also find and follow me on Twitter where I share the wallpapers at the beginning of each month!
Autumn Florals
I love love love flowers and October had lots of autumn florals for me to love on. Including a big rebound on one of our rose bushes! We truly thought that this one rose bush wasn’t coming back but after I returned from Lisbon – it was in full bloom! I also caught one of the roses with a cute little bee tucked into it.

Autumn Colors
Autumn is one of my favorite times of the year because the colors are just so beautiful! I actually cried on my way to the gym the other day because seeing the autumn foliage on the side of the highway was so beautiful. The autumn colors was definitely something I loved this October 2023.

Lots of Delicious Eats
If you’ve been here before – you’ve likely seen “food” on my “things I loved” list’s prior. I love to eat and I don’t discriminate when it comes to food. From affogato’s to matcha pancakes to lots of coffee and the first hot matcha of the season to lots of root and sacral supporting juices – October was a month full of foods I loved.🤤 If you’re interested in diving deeper into October’s eats I wrote two other articles:

A Massive Emotional Release + Ego Death
I don’t believe that the ego ever truly dies (unless we are also physically dead). But, I do believe that pieces of our ego die off as we do “the work”. A piece of my ego died off with the full moon lunar eclipse in Taurus this month and it was a very surreal experience. I documented it in one of my latest YouTube videos:
Lisbon!!
Last, but certainly not least, I loved my trip to Lisbon in October! I went to visit my friend Dolores and I had such a great time. Lisbon, to me, felt like if Mexico City and Paris had a baby. I happen to be a big fan of both Mexico City as well as Paris so I, obviously, loved Lisbon. Here are some highlights from my trip.

I love, love, love photographing interiors of restaurants, cafes, hotels, lounges, etc. Interior design speaks to my SOUL. I made a living as a travel photographer from 2015-2020 and I always placed a heavy emphasis on interiors in my work. It was nice to visit a new city and photograph for fun and not because I had to.

If you know me you know I love a sunset with a view and Lisbon did not disappoint!

And one more time for affogato’s.🤤

Pausing to slow down and appreciate the little things has helped me to really appreciate the bigger things. What are some of the things that you loved in October of 2023?
